Rejected by MFA, Rejecting NTU

Surprisingly, on Friday at 5pm, I received a call from my agent, Kevin, told me that NTU will be offering the job to me. I panicked because I don't know whether I should accept this job offer. I told him I need to consider.

I called SiWei and asked her for her opinion, and decided to call MFA to check whether they will offer me the job. MFA's staff, was kind enough to help me check and get back to me.

Meanwhile, I received a call from another agent, George, told me that NUS has shortlisted me for an interview on Mon. Now, I'm being trapped among these 3 company. Told Kevin that I can only give him an answer after my NUS' interview.

At 7pm, I received email from MFA. I was not shortlisted, but I really wanna thank MFA for giving me the chance. Thanks.

These few days have been thinking alot. Decided to give up NTU's offer. If you want me to work with that kinda supervisor, I guessed I will not have an easy life. When trust is not there, nothing can be done. Don't you think so?

Let's hope I will have better job's offers.

NTU - Interview

I was scheduled to go for an interview at NTU. Fang was in NTU, so she agreed to bring me to the interview place. That's so nice of her. Thanks, Fang, without you I will get lost in NTU! Hahas.

We reached at 2.45pm. Fang waited outside. The interviewer is also call Fiona. Fiona meeting Fiona. Yupps, that's what she said. Lols. She said since my interview time is 3pm, she will start at 3pm. I don't understand why, do you? She seems nice during the interview. After she interview me, she brought me over to her senior to interview me. They asked almost the same questions. But her senior looks strict. She kept asking me what's the factors that triggered me to quit my previous job. Looks like she wasn't very satisfied with my answer. She also asked "How do we know that you were not asked to leave by your previous boss?" What do you think of this question? How will you feel when this kinda question is being asked?

In an interview, not only the interviewer will be considering the interviewee, but the interviewee has the rights to consider the interviewer as well. It's our choice to decide whether we want to join their organisation.

MFA - 2nd Interview Done

I was rather early for my interview. Interview time is 9.20am, but I reached at 8.30am. Saw the guy that took the test together with me the previous time. I knew he will be selected because he is very outspoken. If only I have his courage, I can do very well in interviews too. Hahas. While waiting, he spoke to me. We were given a copy of the job scopes. There are 3 appointments available: Assistant Travel Planner, Assistant Protocol Offier and Assistant Human Resource Offier. I chose Assistant Human Resource Officer.

The guy went in for the interview first, then followed by me. I didn't know there will be 3 interviewers! My heart skipped a beat, but I didn't panicked, I just flashed them my most sweet smile. Hahas. They asked me a lot of questions, I just answered them honestly. I like the questions they asked, very relevant.

Doubt I will get this job, because the guy went in for more than 30 mins and I only went in for 10 mins. Gone case. Hahas.

MFA's interview

Yesterday went to MFA for interview. Consists of: Roundtable discussion, Written Skill Test, Logical Test, Situational Judgment Test and Personality Test. 10 people are shortlisted, but 2 didn't turn up, so there were 8 of us. 1 of them was my poly coursemate, Michelle. I think all of them looked more confident than me, I felt very inferior. It gave me the feeling of running away but of course I stayed.

For the Roundtable discussion, we were given a piece of article regarding micromanaging. We were requested to read it and discuss. The tester asked our opinions, everyone take turns to answer, but nothing come out from me. I really don't dare to answer. Then he keep saying anyone else? Finally, I spoke. To my surprise, I sounded quite confident. Looking into their eyes as I spoke.

After that, the tester asked us what's our reasons of choosing MFA. Most of them said it's because of the job rotation. He was curious that none of us mention about oversea posting so he asked who joins because of oversea posting. Initially, i'm the only one who raised my hand, then another girl joined me. The tester seems happy and surprised that I wanted to join MFA because of oversea posting. Then he briefly tells us the different kind of job scopes available. Now that I know abit more about the job scope, it seems kinda interesting to me.

Next is the test that i'm most afraid of - Written Skill Test. Come on, i'm out of the school, stop giving me English test! It killed a lot of my brain cells! We were given 15 paragraphs about ASEAN, and we have to choose 5 best paragraphs which assumed to be published in a brochure. After choosing the paragraphs, we still have to find 40 errors, including spelling, grammar, punctuation and word choice. Great, I only managed to find 13 errors, which i'm not that confident too. This test totally gone case la.

Logical test did frighten me as well. Assuming that we're already working in MFA, and we were given 10 tasks to do within a day. By looking at all the tasks, if I really can finish within a day, I will be very satisfied. There were too many things to be finished with only 8 hours of working time! One of the case that really stunned me was - to attend a meeting on behalf of my director and have to make presentation as well. Gosh, if it's given to me, I will panick!

Situational Judgment Test was so much easier. We were given 18 different scenarios with 5 possible ways of handling the each scenarios. We have to rank the ways from 1 to 6, from very ineffective to very effective. Though I don't know how well my answers are, i'm honest with my answers.

Personality Test has 60 statements, we have to rank them between strongly disagree to strongly agree. Initially, I was very honest with my answers but not so truthful when half way through. Why? Because they keep stating "I am very easily upset. I am easily worried." Oh come on, I'm so emotional, of course the truth would be strongly agree but which boss will employ people that are so pessimistic? So I lied.

I reached MFA at 8.15am and only manage to leave at 2pm! Gosh, half of my day gone. I will take this interview as an experience bahs. Definitely can't get in, but I did try my best and that's enough. =)
